Ways to help

There is more than one way in.

Money helps. So does an afternoon of your time, a boot full of notebooks, or telling one other person that this place exists.

Come and spend time

The thing the home asks for most is not money. It is people who turn up.

  • Your presence, guidance and encouragement
  • Help with homework, reading or sport
  • Visit on a weekday evening or a weekend afternoon

Organise a donation drive

Run a collection where you already are-at work, at college, or on your street.

  • Workplaces, schools, colleges and residential communities
  • Books, stationery, clothes and school supplies
  • We can tell you exactly what is short this month

Give directly

Contributions go to school fees, food, medical care and the village centres.

  • Eligible for 80G tax exemption
  • Registered children's home-BK/IV 5/2008-2026
  • Donations accepted from within India only

What the home actually needs

If you are running a collection, these are the things that get used immediately.

  • School notebooks and stationery
  • School uniforms and shoes
  • Story books in English and Kannada
  • Rice, pulses and cooking provisions
  • Bedding and towels
  • Sports equipment

Shalom is a registered children’s home, and donations are eligible for 80G tax exemption. Donations can be accepted from within India only.
